Using Ammonia to Bend Plywood

Using Ammonia to Bend  Plywood : (with video)

 Here are some tips.

 Step 1:
First step to bending Plywood with Ammonia, is to "Paint" or "Coat" the plywood on both sides. Do not soak, but just paint or dampen with the ammonia. When you have completed one side, turn the plywood over and complete on the other side. Then turn over, for another layer and then repeat about 2 more times to ensure the plywood is now bendable.

 Step 2:

Once you have dampened or "Coated" the Plywood with the Ammonia mixture, right away begin to bend the plywood into the desired form and use a clamp, jibs, or tape to secure the shape, and hold it until it dries. The plywood will become bendable within 1 or 2 minutes of applying Ammonia.

 Step 3:

The plywood will go slightly off colour, (green) while the ammonia is being applied to the board. Once the plywood returns to the natural colour, after the ammonia has taken to the plywood, it will regain the natural strength that it had before.

 Step 4:

Remove clamps/tape/jibs and now your work is complete the ammonia has allowed you to bend the plywood in a relatively easy fashion. This type is also called the frankentrick.
